Songfacts |
Ave Maria is one of the most known compositions in classical music. It is based on prelude no 1 to the first fugue in the well tempered piano of J.S. Bach (1685). Charels Gounod (1818-1893) used the original piano voicings almost without any changes and added a melody, firstaful without lyrics. 1859 he used the lyrics of the prayer "Ave Maria". Noa (Achinoam Nini) interptets the tune in a pop manner and adds her own lyrics. She has sung this song for many years. The album "Letters to Bach" (2019) contains an album version with guitar, cello an choir in the outro. The jazzinotes editions transfers the guitar to the piano. Vocal and instruments are transcribed note-for-note. Cello and choir are optional and may be omitted. This album was produced by Quincy Jones. Guitar: Gil Door. Cello: Maya BElsitzman. |
