Songfacts |
jazzinotes' score of Bella Ciao tries to empower diverse instrumentations: You find the original version of 4 male vocals, but also for 4 female and 4 mixed vocals (soprano, alto, tenor/bariton and bass), all in an arrangement for piano accompaniment, which is very easy to play (as the guitar of the original recording). In addition you also find a piano version with lead vocal and a lead sheet. Included in all versions are the chord symbols and the original italian lyrics. The folk song Bella Ciao was well known already in the 19th century on the countyside of northern Italy. In the second world war it became the hymn of the partisans who were fighting first against the fascist government and later against the German occupators. After the war the song was part of anti fascist, communist, anarchist and social democratic movements, not only in Italy. Today many people sing it against the italian government, escpecially the secretary of the interior, mr. Salvini. The Netfilx series Money Heist (casa de papel) changed the meaning and function of the protest song completely. The Remix of El Profesor (a role in the series) and the french DJ Hugel let the song enter the summer charts of Europe in 2018. Here comes the english translation of the original italian lyrics: In the morning I got up |
