Sting (real name Gordon Sumner) was born in England in 1951. He is a composer, singer, bass player and actor. Initially he was an English and music teacher. He played in several bands as a hobby - mainly Jazz - and jobbed, temporarily as bus driver and construction worker. Only at a later stage he became well-known with the band Police (with Steve Copeland and Andy Summers) which was founded in 1977 and already reached the top of the charts a year later with their albums. The band split up several times. Her last major tour was in 2007/2008. In 1985 Sting released his first solo album: “The Dream of the Blue Turtles”. Since then he has been playing with numerous rock musicians such as Gianna Nannini, Eric Clapton, Bryan Adams as well as with jazz musicians such as Branford Marsalis, Kenny Kirkland, Omar Hakin etc. Sting received numerous awards and platinum records.

“Fields of Gold” was first published in 1993 on his album "Ten Summoner's Tales". It has often been covered. Perhaps the best-known interpretation is that of the late Eva Cassidy. At jazzinotes there is also this interpretation for piano & vocals and guitar & vocals available, as well as the interpretation of Helene Fischer / Max Giesinger for piano & two voices, and finally an easy piano version.
