First time here?

First time here? Maybe you’ll find yourself asking:

  1. How can I find the sheet music or the book I want most effectively?
  2. Where can I find additional information?
  3. What is the best way to place an order?

And here are a few answers:

jazzinotes offers the following ways to search:

a) The Fastest Search: Catalog

Startseite EN

Select an article group on the main menu (Solo Editions Download, Solo Editions Delivery, Songbooks etc.), see white arrow above. There you will see a drop-down-menu with different article groups.

Once you have selected your article group, you will be directed to a page containing all the articles of that group.  There you can click on individual articles to learn more about them.

b) The Easiest Search: Enter Search Criterion

Einfache Suche

You can enter search criterion (e.g. title, interpreter, composer, lyricist, instrument, instrumentation, etc.) in the field on the top of every page on jazzinotes (see white arrow above).  Click on the magnifying glass icon next to the search field, and you will be directed to a page of results based on your search criterion. There you may improve your search.

c) The Most Refined Search: Advanced Search

Erweiterte Suche

Click on ‘‘Search’’ on the main menu or on ‘‘Advanced Search’’ right beyond the search field (see white arrows above).  You will be directed to a page where you can enter more detailed search criterion – e.g. specific instruments.  The results will be filtered based on the criterion which you have changed.  Anything that you have left blank has been preset to ‘any’.  That means that only the exact criterion which you have entered will be considered.

d) The Automatic Search: Filter

Filter EN

When you have selected a genre or entered search criterion (see point a/b), at the top of the list of results you will automatically see a filter.  In the example above the search criterion was  "Oscar Peterson". The articles can be sorted by category (solo editions download, solo editions delivery, songbooks etc.), instrumentation (choir, piano, ensemble, etc.), level of difficulty (1 being easiest and 5 the most difficult) and transcription type (Arrangement, Free Arrangement, Note-for-Note or Original Composition). The number of applicable songs is in grey squares next to each point.  When you select one of the squares, you will be directed to the respective articles.  The same filter will appear again on the new page of results.  More filters can be added, or removed by clicking on the X.

jazzinotes offers background information for individual songs, and also especially for their authors and interpreters.  A lot of information can be found by browsing through individual pieces.  Here’s what you need to know.

a) Links to Artist Sites

All names highlighted in orange are links, which lead to the homepage of the individual artist – interpreter (artist), composer, lyricist, or arranger.

b) Background information to individual titles

Detailed background information and additional links can be found for most songs at the bottom of the page under the tab ‘Article Details.’

c) Video Links

At the click of a mouse, many videos are also available for viewing (as long as we are not prevented by copyright law).  These can be found under the tab ‘‘Video Links’’ on each article site, which also contains numerous links to further videos.  Just click on the link, and it will appear in the video player.
