It was originally recorded for the album Charlie Parker with Strings. While the original combines a ten-piece string ensemble with a jazz rhythm section, Paul Riggenbach's arrangement is written for orchestra. Charlie Parker's solos were initially transferred to trumpets, later to trombones, and then to trumpets again at the end. While the theme and the recapitulation are largely based on the original, the extension of the middle section (bridge) is the work of Paul Riggenbach.
