Song Facts:
The song, composed and written by Seal himself, first appeared on the album "Seal" in 1994 (the second album with the same title after 1991) and was released as a single in the same year. It entered the charts quickly (e.g. up to 20th place in the US single charts), but soon disappeared from it. Only in 1995 did it reach number 1 in many charts (e.g. also in the US single charts). The reason: It was part of the soundtrack for the film "Batman Forever". There it was intended for a love scene between the main roles played by Nicole Kidman and Val Kilmer. But then it was only played during the credits. The video for the piece with excerpts from the film became known.
Kiss From A Rose is often covered, also in jazz, e.g. by the Julia Hülsmann Trio.
