Songfacts:

Fields of Gold was written by Sting (Gordon Sumner) and first recorded in 1993 on his album »Ten Summoner`s Tales«. The interpretation of Eva Cassidy is probably the most known.

Eva Cassidy (1963-1996) had all her live long a critical distance to the music business. Only after her death her recordings got famous and are model for many musicians.. The album Songbird was No1 in the british charts in 2001, five years after the death of Eva Cassidy!

The score is a note-for-note transcription of the original recording and is that's why very different from the yet existing scores. The second guitar (an electric guitar) of the recording is transcribed, too, but it may be omitted. The jazzinotes edition includes two scores: one with the two guitars, one with only the acoustic guitar. Both include the vocal with chord symbols and lyrics.

With this score the very special intonation, articulation and rhythm of Eva Cassidy are documented precisely.
